Georgia’s non-compete laws – – changing again?

The state of Georgia has moved to enact a new law which will, if approved, allow judges to strike specific clauses that are illegal from a non-compete or do-not-solicit agreement while holding the rest of it enforceable. Proponents of this law state that it will make the state more competitive in business recruitement.  However, opponents say that the new law will make it more difficult for workers to find jobs in their areas of expertise or start their own businesses. We will have to wait and see what Georgia voters decide on this law and how this law, if passed, will affect the franchise industry in Georgia. For more information on the above proposed law or to discuss franchising, please contact our Austin, TX or Tampa, FL offices at 866-99-FRANCHISE.
